Aerial / Scissor Lift Training

Aerial and Scissor lifts are work platforms used to safely move workers vertically and to different locations in a variety of industries including construction, retail, entertainment, and manufacturing. Scissor lifts are different from aerial because the lifting mechanism moves the work platform straight up and down using crossed beams functioning in a scissor like fashion. Although scissor lifts present hazards similar to scaffolding when extended and stationary, using scissor lifts safely depends on considering equipment capabilities, limitations and safe practices. Employers must comply with the following OSHA standards (29 CFR) to protect workers from hazards associated with scissor lifts.

Powered Industrial Trucks - Forklift Safety Training

Powered industrial trucks, commonly called forklifts or lift trucks, are used in many industries, primarily to move materials. They can also be used to raise, lower, or remove large objects or a number of smaller objects on pallets or in boxes, crates, or other containers. Powered industrial trucks can either be ridden by the operator or controlled by a walking operator. Over-the-road haulage trucks and earth-moving equipment that has been modified to accept forks are not considered powered industrial trucks.
Hazards associated with operating powered industrial trucks?
There are many types of powered industrial trucks. Each type presents different operating hazards. For example, a sit-down, counterbalanced high-lift rider truck is more likely than a motorized hand truck to be involved in a falling load accident because the sit-down rider truck can lift a load much higher than a hand truck. Workplace type and conditions are also factors in hazards commonly associated with powered industrial trucks. For example, retail establishments often face greater challenges than other worksites in maintaining pedestrian safety. Beyond that, many workers can also be injured when (1) lift trucks are inadvertently driven off loading docks; (2) lifts fall between docks and an unsecured trailer; (3) they are struck by a lift truck; or (4) they fall while on elevated pallets and tines
Rough Terrain Forklift Training
OSHA Powered Industrial Trucks, Forklifts, Rough Terrain Forklift, Safety Training Certification
The powered industrial trucks standard (29 CFR 1910.178) is the most commonly cited standard in the material-handling industries. Powered industrial trucks are addressed in specific standards for the general industry, construction, marine terminals, and long shoring. This section highlights OSHA standards, Federal Register notices (rules and proposed rules), directives (instruction to OSHA staff), and letters of interpretation (official letters of interpretation of the standards) related to powered industrial trucks. This course emphasizes on hazard identification, avoidance, control, and powered industrial truck safety.
It is a violation of federal law for anyone under 18 years of age to operate a forklift or for anyone over 18 years of age who is not properly trained and certified to do so.
English & Spanish Classes Available
OSHA requires that all new forklift operators receive training and certification, regardless of their prior experience. The updated regulations specify that forklift training must be tailored to the specific equipment being operated and the unique conditions of the work site. This course complies with the 29 CFR 1910.178 standard.
